It's an honour to grow up with this band
It's been a week since I went to see Coldplay live in Singapore and I'm still thinking about it! It's the best concert I've ever been to and man it's so hard to move on haha. Okay as promised I'm gonna talk about it! Also this definitely needs a special blog post mwahaha. Since I've been talking about wishing to see them live back years ago heh. Gonna talk about the other things I did while in Singapore on another separate post! :) Also I won't go into details of the whole concert.
Okay so yes Coldplay is finally back in Singapore for their AHFOD tour! Was feeling kinda sad that they didn't stop by Jakarta, but Singapore is the nearest so I have to make this happen heh. Was drowning in waves of disappointments when I couldn't get my ticket for their initial show on the 1st of April. Thank you to the universe and Coldplay for adding another night!
Almost had a heart attack when my browser crashed probably 4 times after a two hour wait in an awesome virtual waiting room. But got my hands on a Cat B ticket!
Fast forward 4 months later, I was on my way to Singapore to see them live weeee. Okay I was pretty shocked how in December, most of the flights that was on 31st of March were either sold out, or only available in the expensive prices heh. Or it's just a weird timing. I didn't want to risk my time so I actually booked the earliest flight on SQ heh. Reached Singapore at 11 AM! Met with Syaz for lunch and a bit oc catchup before I went back to the hotel to crash for one hour.
Disclaimer: I was awake for 30 hours prior to the concert, with only an hour nap taken.
The door to the stadium opened at 6 PM but I decided to go to National Stadium at 5 PM. Too excited for Coldplay heh. There was already a long queue for the standing pens and also for my gate. But no one was forming a line, they were just sitting around heh. Went to check out the merch stand to get myself the official Asian/European tour tshirt and then joined in the line! I was queuing with a fan from Malaysia and we were chatting for a while. Entered the stadium at about 6:15 I think.
Okay actually the reason I was early is because I was afraid that people are not going to follow their allocated seats hahaha. But thankfully everyone went to their allocated seats and thankfully I got a good seat with a good view. I wish I was at the standing pen but it's okay! Another time maybe.
Jess Kent played at 7 PM, and I haven't really heard about her but her songs are quite awesome! Loving the RnB beats and how she explains every song she was singing about. Got myself a cup of beer and then I was just waiting away for Coldplay to come on stage.
Confetti confetti more confetti!
When they did, I had shivers down my spine! As usual the entry is marked with O Mio Babbino Caro followed by the famous Charlie Chaplin speech. Everyone stood up and we were all cheering and clapping and smiling. I've never felt such emotions before. To finally see your dream come true, to finally catch your favourite band of 12 years perform live in front of your eyes. It's amazing! :')
Okay not gonna talk about every song they play in the concert heh. But here are some of my favourite moments! The introduction is already a favourite heh cause that Charlie Chaplin speech is one of my favourite speeches ever. And also the opening song (A Head Full of Dreams) is one of my favourites from them too. Goosebumps everywhere! Especially when everyone sang the middle part.
I love all of their songs in the concert but some of them hold a more special meaning for me. For example Clocks, which was the first song that got me into knowing them. When they play that song I was just drowning in sentimentalism cause it's been 12 years since I first discovered them.
We'll be glowing in the dark
Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall is also a favourite of mine. Or basically songs from Mylo Xyloto cause they remind me of the good times back in 2011! My KK trip, my first 10K race and so on. Every Teardrop is extra special cause it's really my mood-boosting song. Talks a lot about my life, how music is an escape for me. And Paradise reminds me of all the beautiful places I've been to so far in my life.
Lights will guide you home
And not gonna lie but I was crying during Fix You heh. Fix you is one of my favourites from Coldplay. I'm sure it's everyone else's too. It feels like a good hug that you get when you listen to it to sleep after a bad day. I lost it during the bridge part when things just get super emotional. Without realising tears literally stream down my face as we all sing along the bridge T_T.
Also the #coldplaysingapore choir is amazing! During Viva La Vida as well.
Last but not least I also cried during Up and Up (oops!). Oh god so embarrassing. Thankfully I went alone and no one I know saw me cried hah. But then again I saw a few people cried after Fix You too. Up and Up is another feel good song too. And it's the song that soundtracked my (tough) 2016. So yeah all the not so great things that happened last year kinda came back to me but like my favourite line from the song says, you can clench your fist, or see each sunrise as a gift. I cried here.
Adventure of A Lifetime!
Okay enough of the sad moments. I had a lot of fun singing and dancing to a lot of songs too. Especially Charlie Brown!!! It's such a great song to jump and dance around to seriously. And how Chris asked us to bow down during Adventure of A Lifetime and then jump during the bridge part. It's an amazing feeling to be part of a Coldplay concert seriously. The atmosphere is seriously uplifting.
All in all I'm just so happy that I managed to see them live. I've been wanting for this day and I managed to make it a reality. I still wish and hope that they will come to Jakarta one day. Because there are so many Indonesian fans that would love to see them live but haven't had the chance to.
I really didn't know how to put the night of 31/04/17 into words. But to see you dream turn into reality, to catch your favourite band of twelve years play live in front of you and to hear the songs you grow up with feels pretty amazing. It's a privilege to see you live, an honour to grow up with you, and a bliss to have you soundtracked some of my life's great moments.
Once again thank you so much Coldplay for the amazing concert! Hope to see you again!
