Full of Dreams

A Head Full of Dreams

Last Wednesday while I was in Jakarta for PREP, I took the chance to also catch the Coldplay documentary "A Head Full of Dreams" which was showing for one day only worldwide on the 14th of November! When I saw the announcement I quickly bought a ticket from CGV, which thankfully has a branch in Pacific Place. Also thankfully the timing didn't clash! I caught the one at 16:30.

Well I would say it was an amazing documentary. I'm so thankful that Matt Whitecross, the director of the film, decided to document the life of Codplay since their beginning. The documentary really shows how Coldplay was formed, their trial and tribulations, and of course their journey. From doing gigs in a small pub, to sold-out stadiums worldwide. It literally is a movie about a head full of dreams!

There's no way we can deny that Coldplay is one of the greatest bands of my generation. A lot of people around the world grew up with them. And I am pretty sure they will be like the "Beatles" of our parents. Like how my parents talk about how much they love the Beatles in their 50s. When we are in our 50s, we'll probably talk to people about how much we love Coldplay haha.

There is also a central theme, in my opinion, that surround the movie. It is about manifestation... Am I the only one who thinks about this? I like how Chris Martin has this image of the band. How the 4 of them will be big in 20 years time, how they will get signed, and this and that. And somehow all of these words come true! Of course, the band has worked really hard all of these years. There's also a theme of not giving up, of always having hope. Which is essentially what their latest album is all about.

I was a bit surprised when Chris said that "this is just a beginning" at the end of their AHFOD tour in Sao Paulo. But after watching the documentary, I truly understand what he meant! :)

I hope you can give this a watch, it's on Amazon Prime videos I think. Their live album and DVD is coming out on 9th December! Thank you Matt for making such a beautiful documentary of my favourite band on earth. If the universe allows, I want to see them live one more time :)

Ending off this post with the lyrics from A Head Full of Dreams!

"When you get a head full of dreams,
you can see the change you wanted
be what you want to be"

Coldplay Singapore!

It's an honour to grow up with this band

It's been a week since I went to see Coldplay live in Singapore and I'm still thinking about it! It's the best concert I've ever been to and man it's so hard to move on haha. Okay as promised I'm gonna talk about it! Also this definitely needs a special blog post mwahaha. Since I've been talking about wishing to see them live back years ago heh. Gonna talk about the other things I did while in Singapore on another separate post! :) Also I won't go into details of the whole concert.

Okay so yes Coldplay is finally back in Singapore for their AHFOD tour! Was feeling kinda sad that they didn't stop by Jakarta, but Singapore is the nearest so I have to make this happen heh. Was drowning in waves of disappointments when I couldn't get my ticket for their initial show on the 1st of April. Thank you to the universe and Coldplay for adding another night!

Almost had a heart attack when my browser crashed probably 4 times after a two hour wait in an awesome virtual waiting room. But got my hands on a Cat B ticket!

Fast forward 4 months later, I was on my way to Singapore to see them live weeee. Okay I was pretty shocked how in December, most of the flights that was on 31st of March were either sold out, or only available in the expensive prices heh. Or it's just a weird timing. I didn't want to risk my time so I actually booked the earliest flight on SQ heh. Reached Singapore at 11 AM! Met with Syaz for lunch and a bit oc catchup before I went back to the hotel to crash for one hour.

Disclaimer: I was awake for 30 hours prior to the concert, with only an hour nap taken.

The door to the stadium opened at 6 PM but I decided to go to National Stadium at 5 PM. Too excited for Coldplay heh. There was already a long queue for the standing pens and also for my gate. But no one was forming a line, they were just sitting around heh. Went to check out the merch stand to get myself the official Asian/European tour tshirt and then joined in the line! I was queuing with a fan from Malaysia and we were chatting for a while. Entered the stadium at about 6:15 I think.

Okay actually the reason I was early is because I was afraid that people are not going to follow their allocated seats hahaha. But thankfully everyone went to their allocated seats and thankfully I got a good seat with a good view. I wish I was at the standing pen but it's okay! Another time maybe.

Jess Kent played at 7 PM, and I haven't really heard about her but her songs are quite awesome! Loving the RnB beats and how she explains every song she was singing about. Got myself a cup of beer and then I was just waiting away for Coldplay to come on stage.

 Confetti confetti more confetti!

When they did, I had shivers down my spine! As usual the entry is marked with O Mio Babbino Caro followed by the famous Charlie Chaplin speech. Everyone stood up and we were all cheering and clapping and smiling. I've never felt such emotions before. To finally see your dream come true, to finally catch your favourite band of 12 years perform live in front of your eyes. It's amazing! :')

Okay not gonna talk about every song they play in the concert heh. But here are some of my favourite moments! The introduction is already a favourite heh cause that Charlie Chaplin speech is one of my favourite speeches ever. And also the opening song (A Head Full of Dreams) is one of my favourites from them too. Goosebumps everywhere! Especially when everyone sang the middle part.

I love all of their songs in the concert but some of them hold a more special meaning for me. For example Clocks, which was the first song that got me into knowing them. When they play that song I was just drowning in sentimentalism cause it's been 12 years since I first discovered them.

We'll be glowing in the dark

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall is also a favourite of mine. Or basically songs from Mylo Xyloto cause they remind me of the good times back in 2011! My KK trip, my first 10K race and so on. Every Teardrop is extra special cause it's really my mood-boosting song. Talks a lot about my life, how music is an escape for me. And Paradise reminds me of all the beautiful places I've been to so far in my life.

 Lights will guide you home

And not gonna lie but I was crying during Fix You heh. Fix you is one of my favourites from Coldplay. I'm sure it's everyone else's too. It feels like a good hug that you get when you listen to it to sleep after a bad day. I lost it during the bridge part when things just get super emotional. Without realising tears literally stream down my face as we all sing along the bridge T_T.

Also the #coldplaysingapore choir is amazing! During Viva La Vida as well.

Last but not least I also cried during Up and Up (oops!). Oh god so embarrassing. Thankfully I went alone and no one I know saw me cried hah. But then again I saw a few people cried after Fix You too. Up and Up is another feel good song too. And it's the song that soundtracked my (tough) 2016. So yeah all the not so great things that happened last year kinda came back to me but like my favourite line from the song says, you can clench your fist, or see each sunrise as a gift. I cried here.

 Adventure of A Lifetime!

Okay enough of the sad moments. I had a lot of fun singing and dancing to a lot of songs too. Especially Charlie Brown!!! It's such a great song to jump and dance around to seriously. And how Chris asked us to bow down during Adventure of A Lifetime and then jump during the bridge part. It's an amazing feeling to be part of a Coldplay concert seriously. The atmosphere is seriously uplifting.

All in all I'm just so happy that I managed to see them live. I've been wanting for this day and I managed to make it a reality. I still wish and hope that they will come to Jakarta one day. Because there are so many Indonesian fans that would love to see them live but haven't had the chance to.

I really didn't know how to put the night of 31/04/17 into words. But to see you dream turn into reality, to catch your favourite band of twelve years play live in front of you and to hear the songs you grow up with feels pretty amazing. It's a privilege to see you live, an honour to grow up with you, and a bliss to have you soundtracked some of my life's great moments.

Once again thank you so much Coldplay for the amazing concert! Hope to see you again!

A Head Full of Dreams

The wonderful albums I've been collecting for the past 10 years

So on Thursday, I received my copy of Coldplay's latest album A Head Full of Dreams! I know this sounds crazy buy I actually bought three copies of it HAHAHA. Okay here goes the story. I pre-ordered my album via their online store and it was delivered and stuff, but when I checked the status it reads "bad address, package sent back to centre" and then it reads again "package en route to delivery".

I'm not sure what's that supposed to mean. But last week I found out that the guy whom I always buy my music from was selling the album. I couldn't wait to listen to the album so guess what. I bought it! As for the third copy, I bought another CD from the Coldplay fanbase here in Indonesia, which includes T-Shirt and some other goodies. So yep. I have 3 copies (2 coming soon) mwahaha. Don't worry I'm giving one for my cousin Febi, who's a Coldplay fans as well. The other copy... Maybe to someone.

I gave the album a proper listen on Thursday night and I really love the album. I've been watching videos where Chris was talking about the album. After giving it a proper listen, I think the album delivers what the band wants to album to deliver. About not giving up, about being happy (and thankful) of being alive. At the end of my first listen, I felt happy, blissful and energised. It's such a wonderful album!

Although well... I wouldn't say this is the best album from them. I still feel A Rush of Blood To The Head is their best album, followed by Mylo Xyloto. But from all of their albums, AHFOD gave me a feeling I never felt before from their previous albums. Well to me Coldplay songs gave me this indescribable feeling. Bliss is how I would describe it. Although the song is a sad song, or a happy song, Coldplay has the ability to give me a feeling of bliss in their songs. I don't know how to describe it.

I've known Coldplay for ten years now. I remember the first song that I listened to was "Clocks". It was after PSLE and I would go to my cousin's house to play my late aunt's keyboard. One day my sister cam and let me hear Clocks and asked if I can play it on the piano. Well after a few tries of playing by ears, I found the melodies and played them. Then I asked my sister what song is that, and who's the singer. That's how my Coldplay journey began. From then on, I've been following them!

Although by the time I discovered them, they have already released 3 albums. I bought them one by one across the years. And then they released Viva La Vida and I was so excited. I love that album a lot. I remember first listening to the song on 98.7 FM in Singapore and I was like "OMG it's Coldplay!!" and the next weekend, I bought their album haha. And Viva La Vida accompanied me throughout the end of my sec 3 life, and dragged across the middle of 2009 I think.

Coldplay has accompanied me throughout the past ten years of my life. And their songs have soundtracked some of my life's great moments. Just to name a few, Viva La Vida was my studying music in sec 3 and 4 haha. I listened to Paradise a lot when I was training for my Mt K trip, and also during the trip itself. And also Paradise has always been my running song. For a lot of my races in 2012. A Sky Full of Stars would remind me of my Iceland trip as it was playing everywhere back then.

I can see their latest album soundtracking awesome moments of my future life as well. This album gives me lots of hope! Well one of my life's to-do list is to catch them live. They're going for a tour next year and I am really hoping and praying that they will come to Indonesia. We have a lot of Coldplay fans here. I really hope that we'll be able to see them live here! If not at least come to Singapore.

Well here's a cheer to (in my opinion) the greatest band of our generation. Who accompanied me throughout the past ten years of my life, and soundtracked some of my life's great moments.

Thank you Coldplay.
